Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

A building material’s vapour permeability can change by 400+%!

A building material’s vapour permeability can change by 400+%!

Allowable vapour permeabilities are tightly controlled by Building Regulations - but in the real world they can double or even quadruple when the humidity (RH) varies between 35 and 90%.  This needs to be taken into account at both the design and construction phases and it can be accurately measured with Versaperm’s vapour permeability equipment. As a bonus it can also measure airtightness.

Standard permeability listings can be very inaccurate in real-world situations as construction methods and structural design have a major impact.  Fortunately, the Versaperm system can not only measure values for flat samples but also for actual structural units, products and designs.

The Versaperm vapour permeability measurement system is versatile, fast, simple to use and accurate in the PPM (Parts per Million) to PPB ranges.  It can optionally measure the permeability under a wide range of climatic and environmental conditions including temperature, pressure, relative humidity and both diurnal and seasonal cycles.

Understanding the ways materials respond leads not just to legislative compliance but also to lower heating and cooling costs and reduced mould growth or rot in a building.

As well as developing and manufacturing the equipment the company runs consultancy and laboratory services that offer advice on permeability in complex cases or where the volume or logistics do not mandate a dedicated instrument.
