Versaperm Limited, a world leader in water vapour permeability has introduced a new version of its Permeability Meter for quality control. Permeability is a key factor in the way materials perform – not just when they are acting as barrier, but for packaging, strength, materials handling, printability, sterility and even keeping food fresh. Permeability affects virtually every industry in the world and the materials they use.
The new equipment offers a range of sensors which encompasses a very diverse set of physical measurement principals so they can be applied to most applications and gases including water vapour, hydrocarbons, solvents, oxygen and, CO2. The system can check material samples or finished products, components or packaging.
Problems caused by water vapour permeability alone costs UK industry over a billion pounds a year – yet it can now be checked with a simple 30 minute measurement for many materials.
The new instrument is highly automated and simple to use, it requires little or no training to produce consistent and precise results which, for most gases are accurate in the parts per million range or parts per billion range.
The company also operates a laboratory service to measure permeability for businesses where the volume or logistics of measurements does not demand a dedicated instrument.
