Airtightness and Vapour Permeability - Measurements for Building Materials

Both the airtightness and vapour permeability of a building’s materials need to comply with building regulations.  Both of these can now be measured with the latest Versaperm Vapour Permeability and Airtightness meter.

Results from Versaperm’s new dual system are typically accurate in the parts per million range and it can optionally measure vapour permeability not just for air and water vapour but also for CO2, hydrocarbons, oxygen and virtually every other non-proscribed gas or vapour*.

Between them, Airtightness and Vapour Permeability save energy, regulate dampness and are crucial to the environment within the building and the health of its occupants.  Although the two measurements and very different, Versaperm’s new system exploits a similarity in the underlying physical principals to measure them both.  This can substantially reduce costs in comparison to conventional testing.

The system can optionally duplicate a wide range of climatic and environmental temperature and humidity conditions. It not only lets the user simulate diurnal and, seasonal cycles but it can even duplicate climate and warming scenarios where required.

As well as the new equipment Versaperm also offers a consultancy and a laboratory-based testing service which will measure these properties.
