Versaperm Limited, a world
leader in water vapour and packaging, has introduced a new version of
its Water Vapour Transmission Meter (WVTR) that can not only measure the
water vapour permeability of packaging, but can be configured to measure
permeability for a wide range of other gases as well.
Hundreds of millions of pounds
are wasted due to incorrect packaging & coatings in the UK every year,
this is due to vapour migrating through food, pharmaceutical, healthcare
and other packaging. Correct choice and testing of packaging materials
can help overcome this problem.
The new Versaperm meter is
highly accurate and easy to use and is around 100 times faster than conventional
gravimetric techniques. As an added bonus it can be configured to measure
the permeability of a wide range of gases, including Hydrogen, Helium,
Hydrocarbons, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide.
The meter can measure the permeability
not only of finished packaging, but also of materials, coatings and enclosures.
Sensitivities are in the PPM
(parts per million) or PPB (parts per billion) range depending on the
gas. As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers a water
vapour permeability laboratory service for companies that need to test
samples on an irregular basis.
