With outdoor activities growing ever more popular in the UK, not only is there a growing need for quality control, but also a demand to produce new fabrics for use in this fashion-driven market. Outdoor use brings with it the rapidly increasing need for fast accurate testing of the windproof and waterproofness of these fabrics.
Fortunately Versaperm has the answer. Two answers in fact. As the conventional method for measuring breathability of textiles has been overtaken by technology, Versaperm has introduced two testing systems for this task. Firstly, a modern, fast and highly accurate instrumental system and, secondly, a gravimetric system based on the traditional ISO standard 15496.
With some fabrics the instrumental system can produce results in as little as thirty minutes. It is ideal for product development and the quality control of textiles and garments. The gravimetric system produces results based on the ISO.
Weatherproof fabrics are typically plain weaves with yarns coated with a durable, water repellent finish. Many also have a microporous or monolithic film, coating or bicomponent combination. These materials are produced in massive quantities worldwide. However, for companies where their throughput is not high enough to warrant a dedicated instrument, the company provides a fast turnaround laboratory measurement and service
