Water and gas penetration through building products can cause both problems for occupants as well as mould and rot in buildings.  Versaperm has introduced the highly sensitive Versaperm Mk VI to measure the permeability of materials, barriers and structures for water plus a number of other common gases, including CO2, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Helium and most Petrochemicals.

Versaperm also offers both a sample testing service and a technical consultancy for the building industry which can measure the water vapour and gaseous transmission rates (permeability) of a wide range of products, barriers, treatments and coatings.  The service is important for both the new “vapour open” buildings as well as more conventional “vapour barrier” and historical structures - where incorrect vapour barriers can cause a building to rot away in just a few years.

The equipment is sensitive and simple to uses with highly automated computerised controls.  Results can be produced in as little as 30 minutes for some samples - very much faster than conventional gravimetric measurements which can take days or weeks even to achieve an approximate result.

The Versaperm service is unusual in that it can measure from thin films to very thick samples for permeability including laminates, timber, felts, films, adhesives, mastics and other sealing and structural materials
